Several bus companies that had previously committed to transport Chapel Field students on Sept 2nd will no longer do so.  Consequently we must move High School Orientation and Middle & High School Opening Day back .  Elementary Dates have NOT changed. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Our art teacher, Mrs. Doschi Rosa, has designed an exciting curriculum focusing on skill-oriented as well as project-oriented activities. Students will be introduced to the basics of drawing and gradually move to painting, collage, printmaking and sculpting. During the warmer time of the school year we will venture out into our beautiful campus to produce pleine air work. In addition there will be an emphasis on art history by looking at and discussing famous artists and their work. Our art curriculum is planned around the NY State standard for art education.

Everyone wants to save money. Here is an easy way to not only save, but generate funds for Chapel Field Christian School as well.

Hudson Energy Services (HES) is an approved Energy Service Company (ESCO). HES supplies natural gas and electricity to the public utilities (in this case, Orange & Rockland) who, in turn, deliver it to their customers. The benefit of getting these commodities from HES is that we are able to offer to the consumer the gas and electricity at a lower rate. In fact, your utility actually encourages their customers to switch to an ESCO for their energy supply! When you sign up with Hudson Energy, you will still be receiving only one monthly bill from your utility just as you currently do.

Chapel Field Christian School Fund will receive a monthly donation for every customer who signs up with the school. This is our way of helping you lower your gas bills for the next three years and at the same time make a donation to our school. It is a WIN - WIN situation.

Hudson Energy Services is offering for Affinity Program participants a 1 year fixed rate for gas of $.90 per CCF, a 2year fixed rate of $.94, or a 3 year fixed rate of $1.01 per CCF.

Orange and Rockland’s average gas rate for the last 12 months is over $1.20.

We are also offering a 1 year fixed rate for electric of $0.098 per KWH, a 2 Year fixed rate of $.104 or a 3 year fixed rate of $0.109 per KWH.

(You may enroll in the fixed rate for the gas & the variable rate for the electric or visa versa. Remember the fixed rate for gas is guaranteed to always be at least 5% lower than O&R’s posted market supply rate.)

The Affinity Program can save you hundreds of dollars a year between the gas & electric!

 A very enthusiastic and talented group of young artists grades 6-12 has helped Mrs. Rosa, our new art teacher, to get the art program at Chapel Field off to a great start in the fall of 2008.

 The first quarter was dedicated to the basics of drawing, which is the foundation for all visual art.In the second quarter we were able to order a variety of art supplies which were put to good use immediately. We created paintings to the Christmas song “O Holy Night”, which were exhibited at the annual Christmas concert on December 18. Further we studied color theory and the practical use of color media. Especially the correct mixing of colors in exercises such as the color wheel and the complimentary bar. In addition we discussed two famous artists, Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt von Rijn and a famous German color theorist Johannes Itten and how these artists approach their work

The focus of the third quarter will remain on the subject of painting for some weeks in order to produce three projects. 1. A Hue Mosaic, 2. The replica of a famous painting (on canvas), 3. A narrative self portrait. Simultaneously we will look at the work and life of famous painters such as Marc Chagall, Gustav Klimt, Michelangelo Buonarrotti and Pablo Picasso.

The rest of the school year we will learn about print making, sculpture and collage. As weather permits we will venture out unto our beautiful school campus to work on pleine air projects.
